[Online analytical processing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_analytical_processing) is the term used for a [[Data Modeling|data model]] that aggregates data in a way that makes it easier and faster to query across multiple dimensions. For this reason, OLAP systems are mostly optimized for reading the data and are used primarily for reporting and analysis.
